the silence after they leave the room and you rehearse the apology you will never say for making them watch you fade

The Silence Is Not A Verdict

The door clicks shut, and the silence rushes in to fill the space they just occupied. You are already rehearsing the speech—the careful words you will use to apologize for the burden of your fading, for making them watch you diminish day by day.

But the light does not want your apology. It wants your presence.

There is a story of a woman who washed feet with her tears, and the voice in the room said she was forgiven much because she loved much—not because she explained herself. You do not need to justify your grief or sanitize your pain before you are worthy of being loved.

The one who sees you fading does not see a mistake to be corrected; he sees a child to be held. Do not weep and do not be irresolute, for the grace that is with you is entire, and it will protect you when the words fail.

The silence after they leave is not a verdict; it is the space where you finally stop performing and let yourself be held.
