You Are the One Listening
The day is done, and the house is quiet enough to hear the recording of your own voice. It sounds foreign.
A stranger speaking your words, wearing your tone, yet utterly unrecognizable. That gap between who you are and who you hear can feel like panic rising in the chest.
But listen closer to the silence underneath the sound. There was a father who saw his son coming home from a long way off.
He did not wait for the apology or the rehearsed speech. He ran.
Before the words were finished, before the identity was restored, he ran. The voice you dislike is just the sound of someone who has been walking through the dark.
The light does not need your voice to be perfect to recognize you. It knows the heart beating beneath the strange tone.
You are not the recording. You are the one listening.
