Rest Is an Act of Faith
The day has gathered its dark around you, and the weight of it feels heavier now that the noise has stopped. You are tired in a way that sleep alone cannot fix—the kind of tired that lives in the bones.
But listen: the light does not demand your alertness. It does not require you to stay awake to prove you are faithful.
Jesus fell asleep on a cushion while the storm raged outside, trusting the boat to the water and the water to God. He knew that rest was not abandonment.
It was an act of faith. The darkness has not overcome the light, even when your eyes are closed.
Even when you are unconscious, the light within you keeps burning. You do not have to hold it up tonight.
Let your hands drop. Let the vigil be kept by the One who never slumbers.
Sleep is not the absence of God; it is the place where you let go and let the light hold you.
