Mercy Does Not Need Your Performance
The day has ended, and the armor you wore for twelve hours is finally on the floor. Now comes the rehearsal.
You stand in the steam, practicing the exact sentence, testing the tone so it lands firm and not cruel. You are trying to sculpt mercy out of water and air, terrified that your voice will shake or break the wrong thing.
But you do not have to get this perfect. The light does not need your performance to be present in the room.
It is already sitting on the edge of the tub, listening to the words you cannot yet say out loud. You are rehearsing a ending, but the Love that holds you both is not going anywhere.
The truth you are afraid to speak is already known, and it is already held.
