the reflex to say 'you'll love this' to someone who is no longer there to hear it

The Unsent Message Rises to Him

The day ends, and the habit remains. You see something beautiful—a color in the sky, a strange bird, a quiet street—and your hand reaches for the phone to say the words you have said a thousand times: 'You'll love this.' Then the air leaves your lungs.

The thumb stops. The sentence hangs there, unfinished, with nowhere to go.

It is a specific kind of silence that only happens in the evening, when the doing stops and the missing begins. You are left holding a piece of joy that has no recipient.

But listen. That reflex is not a mistake.

It is proof that the love did not die when the person did. The light that made you want to share it is still burning.

It shines whether the other side answers or not. The Father sees the unsent message.

He sees the love that has nowhere to land but His. You do not have to delete the draft.

You can let it rise. The love you meant to give away was never yours to keep, but it was always His to receive.
