Laughter Is Not a Betrayal of Love
The day ends, and the armor comes off. You laughed today—loud, unguarded, forgetful. And in that second, the grief returned like a tide, bringing the guilt with it: how dare you forget them? How dare you be happy while they are gone?
But listen. The light does not scold you for breathing. It does not demand that your sorrow be permanent to prove your love.
Jesus said to the one who loved much: her many sins have been forgiven—as her great love has shown. The depth of your grief is not a measure of your failure; it is the exact shape of your love. And love is allowed to laugh.
There is a place prepared for you where the tears are wiped away, not because the memory fades, but because the joy is finally big enough to hold it all.
Your laughter is not a betrayal; it is the first sign that the love they gave you is still alive inside you, refusing to die.
