The Power Was In The Staying
The cursor blinks on a goodbye you typed for someone who never said one. You wrote it to reclaim the last word, but your hand hovers—because sending it would hand them the keys to your healing all over again.
So you delete it. Line by line.
Until the screen is blank and the words are trapped inside your chest, unsaid forever. In the quiet that follows, you realize the light does not need your message to reach you.
It sees what was written before you typed a single letter. It sees what was lost when you pressed backspace.
You are not defined by the silence they left you in, nor by the words you chose to swallow. The power was never in the sending.
It was in the staying. You kept the door closed not to punish them, but to protect the sacred space where your own heart is finally learning to breathe.
