the habit of deleting the text message you just wrote because it sounded too much like you needed someone

The Light Wants Your Honesty

The cursor blinks in the empty box, waiting for a truth you are too afraid to send. You type out the ache, the raw need, the honest confession that you are not okay.

And then you delete it. Because needing someone feels like a failure.

Because the mask you wear to work requires you to be self-sufficient, unburdened, strong. So you hit backspace until the screen is clean, and you walk into the day carrying the weight of the words you swallowed.

But listen — the light does not want your performance. It wants your honesty.

There is a friend who stands at the door of your heart, not waiting for a polished speech, but listening for the voice behind the silence. You do not have to edit yourself to be loved.

The text you deleted is the very thing that would let the light in.
