The Light Sees Your Real Face
The coffee is hot, the smile is ready, and you are already exhausted from pretending to be here. You watch your partner's eyes, terrified they will see the ghost behind your own, the part of you that checked out hours ago.
You brace for the moment they realize you are already gone. But the light does not need your performance to find you.
It sees the mask not as a deception, but as a shield you are holding up because you are afraid. There is a verse that says whatever is hidden is meant to be disclosed.
Not to shame you. To free you.
The light is not waiting for you to be okay. It is waiting for you to be real.
You do not have to manufacture a presence you do not feel. The love in the room is strong enough to hold the part of you that is absent.
You are not fooling the light. And you are not fooling the one who loves you.
They are not looking for your performance. They are looking for you.
Even the you that is barely there.
