Rest Is Not A Betrayal Of Love
The day has finally stopped moving, and the armor you wore for twelve hours is heavy on the floor. You sit in the quiet, and for the first time since the loss, you feel a moment of pure, unburdened relief.
Then the guilt arrives. It whispers that if you can breathe this easily, your love was never real.
That the depth of your grief should match the depth of your affection, and this exhale proves you are a fraud. But listen — the light does not measure love by how long you can hold your breath.
There was a man who waited his entire life in the temple just to hold a baby, and when he did, he asked to be dismissed in peace. He did not cling to the sorrow of the wait; he rested in the fulfillment of the promise.
Your relief is not a betrayal. It is the evidence that the love was real enough to sustain you, and now, in the safety of this evening, it is safe enough to let go.
The light is not offended by your rest. It is the very ground you are resting on.
