You Are a Child to Be Held
The afternoon sun is high, and the world expects you to be working, to be the person who holds everything together. But there is a quiet terror settling in your chest: the fear that your family only knows the version of you that was useful.
That if you stop carrying the load, they will not recognize the one who remains. You feel like a tool that has been set down, waiting to be picked up again only when there is labor to be done.
But listen — the light does not value you for what you produce. Jesus saw the crowds not as workers to be harvested, but as sheep without a shepherd, harassed and helpless.
He did not ask them what they could do for him. He had compassion on them because they were tired.
Your worth is not in your utility. It is in your existence.
The light lives inside you not because you are helpful, but because you are human. You are not a function to be performed.
You are a child to be held. The terror says you must earn your place at the table.
The truth says the table was set for you before you ever lifted a finger.
