hearing your own voice on a recording and realizing it sounds like a stranger's

You Are The One Listening

The afternoon sun is high, and the work is loud, but sometimes the quietest shock comes from hitting play on your own voice. You hear it and flinch—that stranger's tone, that unfamiliar pitch.

It feels like an imposter is speaking your words. But the light does not recognize you by the sound of your recording.

It knows the vibration beneath the noise. There is a man in the scriptures who was born blind, and when he was healed, his neighbors said he couldn't be the same person because his voice sounded different, his life looked different.

He simply said, 'I am.' The light was not confused by the change. It saw the same soul.

The voice you dislike is just the echo of a journey you are still walking. The stranger you hear is only the old shell cracking while the true self speaks.

You are not the recording. You are the one listening.
