The Light That Refuses To Leave

The afternoon sun exposes everything. There is a specific terror in being fully known—every flaw, every hidden crack laid bare in the light—and then watching the door close behind someone who finally saw you and chose to leave.

You feel like an exhibit that has been inspected and found lacking. But there is a seeing that does not lead to abandonment.

Jesus looked at the crowds and saw them harassed and helpless, and he did not walk away. He stayed.

The light does not inspect you to find a reason to leave; it shines to find a place to stay. You are not a project that gets dropped when the work gets hard.

You are a home. The very thing you fear—that your visibility will drive love away—is the lie the darkness tells to keep you hiding.

The light sees you completely, and precisely because it sees you, it refuses to let go.
