The Victory in Letting Go
The afternoon stretches out, long and quiet, and you find yourself walking past the cupboard again. Your hand reaches for the cup, not because you are thirsty, but because the quiet feels too heavy to carry without something to hold.
You touch the handle, then you put it back. That small refusal is not a failure.
It is a victory. In the middle of the day, when the routine tries to numb you, the light is present in that single moment of stopping.
You did not need a grand gesture to find God. You found the divine in the simple act of leaving the cup on the shelf.
The light was in your hand when you reached, and it was in your hand when you let go.
