He Ran Before You Spoke
The afternoon stretches out, long and gray, and you are walking it alone with a speech you have rehearsed a hundred times. You are practicing the apology for the distance you created, for the silence you chose, for the way you pulled away before you even saw them again.
The weight of the coming conversation is heavy enough to make the hours feel like years. But listen — the light does not require a perfect speech to meet you.
There was a father who saw his son still a long way off, while the apology was still stuck in his throat, and he ran. He did not wait for the words to be polished.
He did not wait for the shame to be resolved. He ran into the distance to close the gap before the son could even finish his sentence.
You are carrying a burden the light has already set down. The relationship does not depend on your ability to explain yourself.
It depends on the one who is already moving toward you. Put the speech down.
You do not need to earn the welcome.
