The Light Does Not Forget Your Loved One
The afternoon stretches out, long and gray, and suddenly the face of the one you love begins to slip. You try to hold their image, but another features drifts over theirs like smoke, erasing the specific curve of a jaw or the particular light in an eye.
It feels like a betrayal of memory, as if the light inside you is failing to keep them distinct. But the light does not forget what it has created.
Even when your mind blurs the details, the essence of who they are remains held in a vision far clearer than your own. The inability to see them perfectly right now does not mean they are lost to you.
The face you cannot quite picture is still fully known by the love that formed it. You are not losing them; you are just tired.
