The Light Held the Space
The afternoon stretches out, long and flat, and you are carrying a sentence you rehearsed a hundred times. A simple greeting for someone you love.
You practiced the tone, the smile, the way their name should sound. But when they finally looked at you, your throat closed.
The words turned to dust. You said nothing.
In the middle of the day, silence feels like a failure. But the light does not need your performance to know you are there.
It saw the rehearsal. It saw the freeze.
And it knows the love underneath both. The connection was never dependent on the words you managed to speak.
The light was already standing between you, holding the space where the greeting failed. You do not have to try so hard to be known.
