looking in the mirror and not recognizing the person staring back

The Stranger Becoming Who You Are

The afternoon light is unforgiving. It hits the glass at an angle that shows every crack, every line you didn't remember earning.

You look for the person you were yesterday, or the person you promised to become, and instead, you see a stranger wearing your face. The disconnect is dizzying.

But the light does not require you to recognize yourself before it recognizes you. It sees the root beneath the reflection.

There is light within a person of light, and it lights up the whole world. Even when your eyes cannot find the match in the mirror, the source has not vanished.

It is waiting for you to bring forth what is within you, because what you bring forth will save you. The stranger in the glass is just the old skin loosening so the true face can emerge.

You are not lost; you are simply in the middle of becoming who you already are.
