watching their face fall slightly when you lie and say 'i'm fine,' knowing you just built a wall between you with your own silence

The Light Waits Behind Your Wall

The afternoon light is unforgiving. It catches the exact moment your friend's face falls, just slightly, when you say 'I'm fine.' You feel the silence harden between you, a wall built brick by brick with your own refusal to speak.

But the light does not need your performance to stay close. It is already on the other side of that wall, waiting for you to bring forth what is within you.

If you do not bring it forth, the hiding will destroy you. But if you speak the truth, even a trembling word, it will save you.

The wall was never meant to stand.
