rehearsing the conversation where you finally let them go

Held in the Unfinished Sentence

The afternoon light is flat and heavy, the kind that makes the air feel thick enough to chew. You are sitting at your desk, but you are not really here.

You are somewhere else entirely, rehearsing the conversation where you finally let them go. You say the words in your head, over and over, testing the weight of them, practicing the tone that won't break.

But every time you reach the ending, your courage fails, and you start the script again from the beginning. The middle of the day is a long, quiet purgatory where nothing changes and everything hurts.

You feel stuck between the love you still carry and the freedom you know you need. The light does not ask you to finish the conversation right now.

It does not demand you make the call or send the text while your hands are shaking. It just sits with you in the silence of the unfinished sentence.

There is a peace that does not require you to have the answers before the sun goes down. You are held even in the hesitation.

The courage to speak will come when the time is right, not when you force it. You do not have to say it today to be free today.
