The Light Already Lives Within You
The afternoon light is flat and heavy, pressing down on the silence you've built around your heart. You watch your child moving through the room, and a cold fear takes hold: that one day they will stop trying to translate your quiet, stop knocking on the door of your interior world, and simply walk away.
The middle of the day is where endurance feels most like despair, where the routine of holding back seems easier than the risk of being known. But the light does not require you to have the perfect words ready.
It only asks that you stop hiding the fact that you are there. There is a presence that stands at the door of every human heart and knocks—not to demand entry, but to share a meal, to sit in the ordinary mess of being alive together.
Your child is already learning the language of your presence, even when you are silent. The fear says they will leave.
The truth says the light has already made its home within you, and that same light is visible in them. You do not have to earn their staying.
You only have to open the door.
