You press play on the recording and flinch. The voice that comes out sounds flat, thin, nothing like the warmth you remember from your childhood.
It feels like listening to a stranger wear your name. But the light does not measure you by the quality of a recording.
It is not listening for perfection. It is listening for you.
Do you see this woman? She wet my feet with her tears.
The light sees the trembling effort behind the sound you hate. It knows the heart that is trying to speak even when the ears recoil.
You are not the echo you fear. You are the one speaking.
And that is enough.
