The Light Behind Your Mask
You just hung up the phone, and the smile is already fading from your face before you turn around. You catch your reflection in the dark window—the ghost of the performance still hovering there while the real you stands behind it, exhausted and unrecognizable.
The gap between the voice they heard and the silence you feel is wide enough to drown in. But the light does not live in the performance you gave; it lives in the quiet person standing in the shadow of the glass.
You do not need to keep the mask on for the One who sees through the glass already. The reflection you fear is not the truth; the truth is the light that was there before you ever learned to pretend.
