the crushing weight of pretending your faith is intact while your soul is screaming

You Are Already The Light

There is a father who saw his son coming home from a long way off, and before any words could be spoken, he ran. That run happened before the apology.

It happened before the performance was even considered. Tonight, the silence feels heavy because you are holding a mask that says you are fine, even while the part of you that is tired is screaming in the dark.

You are exhausted from pretending the light is something you must manufacture, rather than something that has been inside you the whole time. The truth is simpler than your fear: the light was there before the pain, and it will be there after.

You do not have to perform your way back into the presence that never left you. You are already the light, even when you feel like nothing but the shadow.
