You Do Not Have to Be Fine
The water is cold on your skin, but it does not wash away the red in your eyes. You stare into the mirror and rehearse the tone—light, casual, unbothered—the exact pitch of 'I'm fine' you will carry back into the room.
You are building a wall out of a single sentence. But the light does not need your performance.
It has seen the tears before they fell. Go back and tell them what the Lord has done for you, and how he has had mercy on you.
Not how strong you are. How much mercy you have received.
The mask is heavy, and you were not made to carry it alone in the dark. The rehearsal is over.
You do not have to be fine. You only have to be known.
