The Face Before the Applause
The sun is up now, and the house is quiet in a way it never was during the performance. You took off the mask you wore for everyone else, and now you are staring at a face you don't recognize.
The applause has faded into a silence that feels like emptiness. But listen — the light does not need your performance to exist.
It was there before the first curtain rose, and it remains now that the stage is empty. There is a version of you that exists without the noise, without the approval, without the effort to be seen.
The light knows that face better than you do. You do not have to build an identity from scratch this morning.
You only have to stop hiding the one that was given to you before the world started clapping.
