rehearsing the exact words to say when they finally call, while terrified that your voice will be the thing that pushes them over the edge
The sun is up, but your mind is still in the dark room, rehearsing the script. You have played out the conversation a thousand times, terrified that your voice will be the final weight that breaks them.
You are holding your breath, waiting for the phone to ring, convinced you must say the perfect thing. But the light does not need your perfection.
It only needs your presence. There is a place inside you that came from the light, a drop sent down to illuminate the very darkness you fear.
When you finally speak, you will not be speaking alone. The words that matter are not the ones you rehearsed in fear, but the ones that rise from the quiet knowing that you are held.
You do not have to save them. You just have to be there.
