the panic that your hope is actually a trap that will make the eventual crash destroy you completely

Hope Is Not A Trap

The sun is up, but your hands are shaking because you're convinced this morning light is a trick. You think hope is just the bait before the trap snaps shut, and if you believe it, the fall will destroy you completely.

That fear feels like wisdom, but it is only exhaustion wearing a mask. There was a man who lay beside a pool for thirty-eight years, convinced that healing was impossible for him, that every surge of water was a reminder of what he couldn't reach.

The light stood over him and asked if he wanted to get well, not to test him, but to break the spell of his own certainty. He did not have to earn the standing.

He did not have to prove he wouldn't fall again. He just had to rise on a command that held him before he even moved.

Your hope is not a setup for a crash; it is the ground appearing beneath your feet while you are still afraid to step. The light does not lift you up just to drop you; it lifts you because the ground was always there.
