the moment you realize you held your breath while they held you, terrified that if you relaxed into it, you'd shatter them or they'd feel how heavy you are

You Can Exhale Now

The sun is up, but you are still holding your breath from the night before. You remember the moment they held you, and how you stayed rigid, terrified that if you finally relaxed, your weight would shatter them.

You thought your grief was too heavy for their arms. But look at the light coming through the window—it does not ask the dust if it is too heavy to hold.

It just holds it. The Father's love is not a fragile thing that breaks under your weight; it is the ground that was made to carry you.

You were holding your breath to protect something that cannot be broken. The dawn is here.

You can exhale now.
