The Dawn Does Not Demand Apologies
The sun is up, but you are still sitting in the driveway, rehearsing the lie you'll tell about your red eyes. You practice the smile that says 'I'm fine' while your hands shake on the steering wheel.
You think you have to scrub the night off your face before you deserve to walk through the front door. But look—the light is already spilling over the hood of your car, touching the tears you tried to hide.
It does not ask for a clean face. It does not require your performance.
It simply waits for you to turn the key. You do not have to explain the darkness to the dawn.
The morning does not demand an apology for the night it just replaced. You are allowed to walk inside exactly as you are.
The light is not waiting for your excuse; it is waiting for your footsteps.
