compassion fatigue — being in a helping profession and having nothing left

Let the Morning Hold You

The sun is up, and you are already empty. You have given everything you had to give, and now there is nothing left in the cup.

You walked through the night carrying others, but who carries you? The light does not ask you to generate more warmth from your own exhausted hands.

It asks you to stop trying to be the source. There is a rising sun that comes not from your effort, but from a tender mercy that knows you are running on fumes.

You do not have to manufacture the dawn. It is already breaking over you.

The light is not a demand on your remaining strength; it is the strength itself, waiting for you to simply receive it. You made it through the dark; now let the morning hold you.
