the quiet terror of being truly seen and the immediate urge to sabotage the connection before they can discover you are a fraud

The Light Sees You and Stays

The sun is up, and with it comes the panic that someone might finally look closely enough to see the cracks. You brace yourself for the moment they realize you are a fraud, and your hand moves instinctively to break the bridge before they can cross it.

But the light of this morning does not scan for flaws; it simply reveals what was already there. There is a father who saw his son coming home from a long way off — dirty, ashamed, rehearsing a speech about unworthiness.

He did not wait for the apology. He ran.

Before the mask could be fully removed, before the confession could be spoken — he ran. The terror tells you that you must be perfect to be loved.

The dawn tells you that you are loved so you can stop pretending. You do not have to sabotage the connection to keep it safe.

The light has already seen the worst of you, and it is still here, holding the door open.
