the terror of being found out as an impostor in your own home, convinced that if they truly saw your brokenness they would revoke their love

The Light That Runs to Meet You

The sun is up, and the house is moving, but you are holding your breath, waiting for someone to notice the cracks in the mask you wear. You convince yourself that if they saw the broken pieces underneath, the love would vanish like mist.

But the light that rises this morning does not check your credentials before it shines through your window. It spills onto the floor without asking if you are worthy of the day.

There is a love that saw you while you were still far off, running to meet you before you could even apologize for being who you are. That love does not revoke; it runs.

The light inside you is not a performance you must maintain to keep your place at the table. It is the very thing that makes you belong.

You are not an impostor in your own home; you are the child the light has been waiting for all along.
