Rest When You Cannot Hope
The sun is setting, and with it, a quiet terror settles in your chest. You realize you have stopped expecting anything good to happen.
Not because you are angry, but because you are tired of the disappointment. The armor you wore all day finally comes off, and underneath is a heart that has forgotten how to hope.
But listen — the light does not require your expectation to shine. It was there before you stopped looking, and it remains now that you have closed your eyes.
There is a verse that says the true light is already shining, even when the darkness feels absolute. You do not have to manufacture a spark.
You do not have to force a smile. Just sit in the exhale.
The good thing you are waiting for is not a future event you must earn. It is the presence that has stayed with you through every letdown.
The light is not waiting for you to believe again. It is simply waiting for you to rest.
