rehearsing an apology in your head for a hurt you didn't cause, just to keep the peace

Put Down the Script You Never Wrote

The sun is setting, and the armor you wore all day is finally heavy enough to drop. But instead of rest, your mind begins to rehearse a speech you never needed to give.

You are crafting an apology for a hurt you did not cause, polishing words of regret for a mistake that isn't yours, just to keep the peace. The silence of the evening makes the script feel urgent, as if admitting fault is the only way to make the noise stop.

But listen — the light does not ask you to carry blame that belongs to someone else. There was a father who saw his son coming home from a long way off.

He ran. Before the apology, before the speech — he ran.

The embrace came first. The peace was already there before the words were spoken.

You do not have to buy your way back into love with a confession of innocence. The light sees the burden you are holding, and it knows you are tired of pretending it's yours.

Put the script down. The peace you are trying to manufacture is already waiting for you to be still.
