the fear that your affection is only tolerated because you have performed perfection

Love Runs Before You Speak

The sun is rising, and your mind is already racing to prove you are worthy of a new day. You believe the light only stays because you were perfect, because you performed, because you didn't break.

But the light does not tolerate performance — it tolerates nothing. It simply is.

There was a son who left everything and came back filthy and ashamed, rehearsing a speech to earn a place as a servant. But the father saw him from a distance and ran.

Not because the son was perfect, but because the son was his. The running came first.

The feast came before the apology. The love was already poured out, pressed down, and running over, before you ever said a single word.
