the terror that your genuine tears are just a rehearsed performance to manipulate divine pity

The Light Loves You Before You Cry

The sun is rising, and with it comes the fear that your tears were just a performance—a rehearsed script to manipulate pity from a God who sees through everything. You wonder if your grief is real or just a role you've learned to play.

But the light does not need you to be authentic to love you; it loved you before you knew how to cry. Jesus saw the paralytic lowered through the roof and said, 'Son, your sins are forgiven,' not because the man proved his sorrow, but because the need was there.

Your tears may feel scripted to you, but to the light, they are simply the sound of a heart breaking open. You cannot fake out the one who knows the difference between a mask and a face.

The morning does not ask if your dawn is genuine; it simply arrives and fills the room anyway.
