Lay Down Your Heavy Armor Tonight
The sun is going down, and the armor you wore all day feels too heavy to carry into the night. You are terrified that if you set it down—even for an hour—the world will move on without you, leaving you behind in the dust.
But the light does not require your vigilance to keep the earth spinning. Jesus saw a paralyzed man lowered through a roof, and before he told him to walk, he said: 'Take heart, your sins are forgiven.' The healing began not with effort, but with permission to stop.
You are not holding the universe together by your own strength. The One who holds you is not asleep; He is awake while you rest.
Lay the burden down. The ground will not swallow you if you stop moving.
Close your eyes. The light keeps watch while you breathe.
