replaying the moment you stayed silent and convincing yourself that your silence protected them, while knowing it actually starved you

The Silence That Starved You

The sun is dropping, and the house is finally quiet enough to hear the echo of what you didn't say. You told yourself your silence was a shield—that holding it in kept the peace, that swallowing the words protected them from the weight of your truth.

But tonight, in the exhale of this evening, you feel the hollow ache where those words should have landed. You realize now that the silence didn't save them; it starved you.

There was a father who saw his son coming home from a long way off. He didn't wait for the speech.

He didn't wait for the apology to be perfect or the timing to be right. He ran.

Before the son could explain why he left or how he failed, the father was already there, arms open, kissing the dirt off his face. The light does not require your perfect timing.

It only requires your voice. Speak the thing you have been starving to say.

The light is not afraid of your honesty.
