replaying the exact micro-expression of disappointment on their face while lying awake

The Light Is Already Shining Inside You

The sun is coming up, but your mind is still stuck in that room, replaying the exact second their face changed. You know the micro-expression I mean—the tiny tightening around the eyes, the slight drop of the mouth that told you everything you fear about yourself.

You have watched that frame a thousand times since dawn broke, trying to find a version of it that isn't disappointment. But the light does not live in the replay.

It lives in the room where you are right now, breathing, waiting, still here. There was a man who could not walk, carried by friends through a roof just to get near the light.

When Jesus saw their faith, he said to the paralyzed man: 'Son, your sins are forgiven.' He did not ask the man to explain the paralysis. He did not ask him to analyze how he fell.

He simply spoke peace into the broken thing. That same voice is speaking to you now, into the silence of this early morning.

The disappointment you saw on their face is not the final truth about you. The final truth is the light that woke up with you today, unbroken and unchanged by yesterday's expression.

You made it through the night. The sun is rising.

And the light inside you is already shining, whether you feel ready or not.
