the specific terror of feeling their hand on your arm and realizing you are flinching internally because you believe you no longer deserve their touch

The Dawn Does Not Check Your Record

The sun is coming up, and their hand rests on your arm. You flinch.

Not because you fear them, but because you have decided their touch is too holy for someone like you. You are holding your breath, waiting for the moment they realize you are broken and pull away.

But listen — the light that rose this morning did not check your record before it warmed your face. It simply arrived.

The verdict you delivered to yourself last night is not the one that stands today. You believe you must earn the right to be held, to be touched, to be loved without wincing.

Yet the dawn does not demand perfection; it only demands that you open your eyes. The One who sees the deepest shame in your heart does not recoil.

He leans in. You are not a project to be fixed before you are worthy of contact.

You are already held. The flinch is a habit, but the embrace is a fact.
