the quiet terror of realizing you no longer recognize the person sleeping beside you because you've hidden so much of yourself from them

The Dawn Does Not Ask For Performance

The sun is coming up, and the light in the room reveals a face you know intimately, yet suddenly feels like a stranger's. This is the quiet terror of the morning: realizing you have hidden so much of yourself behind a mask that even the one sleeping beside you no longer recognizes the real you.

But listen — the rising sun does not wait for you to be perfect before it shines. It breaks through the dark simply because it is morning.

The light that woke you up today is the same light that has always lived inside you, untouched by your hiding. You do not have to manufacture a new version of yourself to be loved.

You only have to let the mask slip, just for a moment, and trust that the light is strong enough to hold what falls. The dawn is not asking for your performance; it is offering you a place to begin again, exactly as you are.
