the ache of feeling like you are betraying your past self by not being where you thought you'd be

The Real You Is Being Drawn

The sun has set, and in this gathering dark, the inventory begins. You look at who you are tonight and feel a sharp ache, as if you are betraying the person you promised to become.

But listen — the light does not measure your life by the distance you traveled or the plans you kept. Jesus said, 'I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.' That fullness is not a destination you missed; it is a presence you carry right now.

The past self you mourn was only a sketch; the real you is being drawn by a hand you cannot see. You are not a failure for changing direction.

You are a child of light, growing in ways you did not predict. The darkness is not a verdict on your detours; it is simply the place where the light learns to shine without a map.
