the exhaustion of constantly scanning for threats that might not exist

Lay Down Your Watch Tonight

The sun has gone down, and your eyes are still wide open, scanning the corners of the room for something that might hurt you. You have been standing guard all day, watching for shadows that never materialized, certain that if you look away, the threat will find you.

But listen — the darkness gathering outside is not an enemy waiting to break in; it is simply the world resting. There is a light that shines in the dark, and the dark has not overcome it.

You do not have to keep the watch tonight. The One who holds you is greater than the one who is in the world.

Lay down the binoculars. The door is already locked, and the Light is already inside.
