the terror of being truly seen by someone you care about, fearing your flaws will make them leave

The Light Loves the Face Beneath

The sun has gone down, and the shadows in the room are growing longer. Tonight, the silence feels heavy with the things you have hidden from the people you love.

You are terrified that if they truly saw the cracks in your foundation, they would turn and walk away. So you hold your breath, performing a version of yourself that is smooth and unbroken.

But the light does not love the mask you wear; it loves the face beneath it. There is a love that sees every flaw, every secret shame, and instead of turning away, it runs toward you.

Before you can explain yourself, before you can apologize for being broken, the arms are already around you. The fear says you must be perfect to be kept.

The truth says you are known, and you are not going anywhere.
