the hollow ache of rehearsing tomorrow's casual jokes while lying awake, terrified you won't remember how to be human when the sun rises

Stop Rehearsing, You Are Already Home

The sun has gone down, and the armor you wore all day finally hits the floor. Now comes the quiet rehearsal—the mental scripting of tomorrow's casual jokes, the frantic practicing of being human because you're terrified you'll forget how when the morning comes.

You lie there, running through the lines, convinced that if you don't get them perfect tonight, you'll fail the world tomorrow. But listen.

The light does not need you to perform. It is not waiting for your wit or your smile or your carefully curated okayness.

It is waiting for you to simply be. The Father's love is not a reward for getting the part right.

It is the ground you are lying on right now, in the dark, without a single joke prepared. You do not have to earn your humanity.

You already are what you are trying to pretend to be. The light was inside you before you learned to laugh, and it will be there when the words fail.

Stop rehearsing. The audience of heaven is not watching for your performance.

It is just glad you are home.
