The screen lights up your face in the dark, a small rectangle holding all your hope and all your fear. You are waiting for a name to appear, or worse, you are checking to see if the silence has finally turned into a message saying they are done with you.
But the silence you feel is not a verdict. It is just the night.
There is a light within you that does not need a notification to prove it exists. It was shining before the phone buzzed, and it will still be shining if the morning comes with no words at all.
You are not defined by who stays or who leaves. You are the light that remains.
