The Light Remains When The Cast Changes
The screen lights up, and there they are—laughing with someone new, a face you used to point to and say, 'This is them.' The exhale you've been holding all day catches in your throat, turning into a weight that sits heavy in the quiet room. It feels like the story ended before you were ready to put down the book.
But listen—the light does not require you to understand the plot to remain present in the scene. You are not defined by who is standing next to you in the photograph, but by the light that was already inside you before the picture was taken.
That light has not dimmed because the cast changed. It does not need the old context to shine.
The love you carried was real, even if the chapter closed. Let the image be just an image, not a verdict on your worth.
The light remains, steady and unbroken, waiting for you to stop performing okayness and just be.
