re-reading old text threads to find proof you were once loved

Love Moved From Memory To Marrow

The screen glows in the dark, a small rectangle of light in a room full of shadows. You are scrolling back, month after month, searching for the moment the tone changed.

Looking for proof that you were once loved, as if the words might vanish if you stop staring at them. But the light does not live in the past tense.

It lives in the room where you sit right now. There was a father who saw his son coming home from a long way off.

He did not wait for the apology. He did not ask for evidence.

He ran. Before the speech, before the justification, he ran.

The love you are hunting for in old threads is not gone. It has simply moved from the memory to the marrow.

You do not need to find it again. You need to remember that it never left.
