You Are the Light Wearing the Mask
The room is loud, and your hands feel empty without the prop that usually smooths the edges of your voice. You are performing okayness, smiling at the right moments while inside you are counting the seconds until you can escape.
The mask is heavy today, and the fear whispers that without the drink, you have nothing to offer, that your sober self is too jagged for this gathering. But the light sees behind the performance—it sees the trembling and it does not look away.
There is a peace that does not require a cup to hold it, a quiet that exists even in the noise. You do not have to manufacture charm to be worthy of the space you occupy.
The light is already speaking through your silence, through your awkwardness, through the simple act of showing up as you are. You are not the mask you wear to survive the morning; you are the light that wears the mask.
